St Andrew's Day
St Andrew's Day in Scotland

St Andrew's Day is celebrated on 30th November.

St Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland.

The cross on the Scottish flag is called St Andrew's  cross.
The flag is blue and the cross is white.

The symbol of Scotland is the thistle.

Men used to wear kilts in the colours of their clan. Now they wear it only in special occasions such as weddings.

They also wear sporrans.

Bagpipes are Scottish national instrument. The sound of bagpipes is similar to Croatian ''gajde'' or ''diple''.

We are in class 7A. There were a few 'Scots' in our class that day.

The Scots like dancing. We also tried dancing a Scottish dance.
It was not easy because that dance was very fast.
There was a quiz and we answered all the questions except one.

At the beginning of the lesson the teacher read a story about oatcakes. She did not tell us that she baked some oatcakes for us. In the end we tasted them. They were delicious!
